Since its founding, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. has embraced a spirit of unity that extends beyond its membership, welcoming women who share its commitment to service and sisterhood. The Philo Affiliate represents women who do not hold a four‑year college degree but are deeply dedicated to supporting the sorority’s mission. Originally organized under various auxiliary names, these women were officially recognized as “Philos”—meaning “friend”—in 1954. By 1980, the Philo Affiliate had established a national structure, growing into a vibrant network of hundreds of women across multiple regions. Through countless hours of community service and meaningful financial contributions, Philos continue to play an essential role in advancing Sigma Gamma Rho’s mission to enhance the quality of life in communities everywhere.

Member Requirements 

• Must be at least 18 years old and exhibit strong character, poise, self‑control, meaningful interest, outstanding social traits, and proficiency in a chosen area.
• Must hold a GED or high school diploma.
• Can have an associate's degree but not a four-year degree. 
• Be interested in promoting programs of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
